  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs

  1. Cook the elbow macaroni in salted boiling water until al dente (7-8 minutes). Drain and set aside.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Whisk in flour to create a roux, cooking for about 1 minute.
  3. Gradually add whole milk while whisking until thickened (about 2-3 minutes).
  4. Remove from heat and stir in shredded cheddar until melted.

  6. Transfer to a greased baking dish, top with panko bread crumbs, and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
