Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup warm water (about 110°F)
  • ½ cup whole milk (room temperature)
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons dry active yeast
  • ¼ cup + 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • ½ cup confetti sprinkles
  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • ⅓ cup dark brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch kosher salt
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • Pinch kosher salt
  • Additional confetti sprinkles (to garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, sprinkle yeast over warm water and milk; add 1 tablespoon sugar. Stir gently and let sit for 5-7 minutes until bubbly.
  2. In a stand mixer, combine the yeast mixture, remaining sugar, and egg. Gradually add flour mixed with salt until a smooth dough forms.
  3. Fold in confetti sprinkles, then cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it rise for about an hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Roll out the dough into a rectangle; spread softened butter over the surface.
  5. Mix together granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt; sprinkle over rolled dough.
  6. Roll tightly into a log; slice into 12 equal parts and place in a greased pan. Let rise for another 30-45 minutes.

  8. Prepare frosting by mixing cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and salt until smooth; frost warm rolls before serving.
