  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 4 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp ground allspice
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 3/4 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1/8 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 6 oz cream cheese
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Warm milk to 110°F; mix with yeast and sugar. Let sit until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour and spices; create a well in the center.
  3. Pour in yeast mixture, eggs, vanilla extract, and softened butter; mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough until smooth; place in greased bowl covered with plastic wrap to rise for about an hour.
  5. Prepare filling by mixing all ingredients until crumbly; prepare caramel sauce (honey, vanilla extract, salt).
  6. Roll out dough into a rectangle; spread with butter and filling mixture before rolling tightly.
  7. Slice into 12 pieces; place in a greased pan lined with caramel sauce. Allow to rise briefly.
  8. Bake at 350°F for approximately 30 minutes until golden.
  9. Cool slightly and drizzle with cream cheese frosting before serving.
